Abstract
A clinical study on 241 surgical patient with gastric and duodenal ulcers who were ad ratted ,to the department of the surgery, Severance hospital, Yonsei University, From Jan. 1962 to Dec. 1971, has been analyzed and summarized as the follows.
1. The age of the majority of the cases ranged from 3 rd to 5th decade (165%) 2. Sex distribution was predominant in male, with ratio of 8 female to 1 female. 3. The locations of the peptic ulcers were nearly equal frequency, such as stomach ulcer (49%) and duodenal ulcer (48%).
4. Among 241 cases, complicated¢¥ cases were 74% and intractable cases were 25%.
5. Blood group 0 was predominant group in peptic ulcer (34%).
6. Duration of illness was over 5 years in 36.5%, presented high frequency.
7. The early post operative complications were noted in 26 cases (10.8%) and most common
complication was operative wound infection.
8. The operative mortality was 2.1%.
